Oh.

And it finally hit me just now. Why she wanted me to take my chance and leave the hospital early even at some risk to my stomach.

She’d been researching delirium, I know, because every time she talked with me or came to my hospital room, she was employing various methods to fight it.

And I remember her saying. Hospitals cause and contribute to delirium. And that we had to get me out of there because the delirium was lingering too long and if I got home was the only way to really fight it.

And now that I am reading that delirium alone seems to have the potential to kill people, and worsen other medical conditions, and in general make everything worse than it would otherwise be… I can see why getting me out of there became her highest priority, even higher than making sure I was medically absolutely ready to leave. I remember how scared she was but I didn’t understand it until now.
