Question I just got asked by a random doctor:
“Are your parents related?”
I can’t even… I don’t know the words to explain what I wish my response could have been. And no this wasnt a geneticist. It was just idle curiosity. I have been asked that before because of prejudice…
Yeah this guy just asked it in a context where there was no real excuse, it wasn’t even concerning the topics of the appointment. I think there are cousin marriages in my distant family history but that’s kind of normal throughout human history. And my parents aren’t related. If they were I wouldn’t be ashamed or anything, but it’s a really rude question in most contexts. And none of his fucking business.
