goldenheartedrose:

So, Tumblr autistics (and friends),

Anyone else watch Wretches and Jabberers? It’s on Netflix and as best as I can tell, it’s a documentary about nonverbal/limited verbal autistic adults.

Twenty minutes in, it seems culturally diverse (racially as well as the way that each individual experiences autism), there’s very little infantilizing, dehumanization if at all. And it’s interesting.

Anyone else have thoughts on it?

I’ve seen it. I live near the main guys in it and know them a little bit. It’s hard to be objective about it because I like Larry so much. (I don’t know Tracy as well but I like the little I know. And I don’t know Larry super well. We know each other mostly from spending time near each other, not direct interaction, not to mislead you. We attend similar conferences and programs and have carpooled.) I think it’s great they got to do their own movie.
