Speaking of smelling things - Rats are detecting land mines and figuring out who has tuberculosis! They are trained to detect the scents of explosives or TB and rewarded when they get it right. They are very accurate. And the nice thing is - they are too small to trigger any of the land mines, so that they can run around in the area without getting hurt!
