How to my fellow spoonies blog? More specifically, what I am asking is where do you put your laptop (if you’re using one). Putting it on my lap only lasts for a few minutes before the pressure it puts on my legs is too painful (even with a pillow added), and putting it beside me is kind of awkward for my back (although it’s better than the knee pain, so this is what I currently do).
Suggestions?
I normally use an iPod Touch or an iPad. Then I do it lying on my side in bed.
It’s a hospital bed so I tilt the back up a little. Right now I am lying on my right side. The long side of the iPad rests in my right hand and forearm, and can tilt back towards the bed rail. The bottom of the iPad (short side) rests on a pillow. Actually two pillows. One regular sized memory foam pillow at the bottom. One fluffy square pillow on top. It rests on the square pillow. My left arm rests own the square pillow and does all the typing.
This means that all of my body and the iPad is resting on something. Nothing is being held up in the air. Not even my typing hand. Except for brief taps up towards the top. But the pillow is very soft.
Since this is an especially bad day, my breathing is supported as well, by my bipap. My head is on one of those airport pillows. So everything is resting on something, even my lungs. On a day like this, that’s perfect. Except can’t make the pain totally go away. But for me this works way better than a laptop in this situation. There are situations when iPad typing is too hard so I type on an iPod Touch.
This isn’t for everyone but when it works, it’s great.

fibrofriendsmarissa answered: I have a lap desk, and I put my laptop on it. I put it in front of me and sit cross-legged. I just have to get up a lot and stretch.
focaccialoaf answered: I was just about to say a ‘breakfast in bed’ tray. Keeps all the pressure off you and raises it a bit.
funnybunny43 said: Maybe you could put it on a TV/breakfast tray? Like the little wood ones that have legs you fold out for when you have breakfast in bed.
corretto answered: I second the breakfast in bed table idea! Give it a shot.
