Growing bruise from blown vein. The other day I had three IV nurses in a row. I swear every time I come to this place I lose veins.
I didn’t realize people weren’t joking when they said veins hide to avoid being poked. The human body seems very smart, even the little parts like veins.
I’ve had several IV nurses recommend i get a port. It’s some kind of central line like a PICC only you only have to create it once and it can stay in for over ten years. They said the amount of time I spend here and the hard time I have getting IVs to stay functional might recommend the idea. I don’t know. I’ll have to talk to my doctor about whether I’d want to take that step. But it’s got to be better than digging a PICC every time. And it would make things easier in the long run. I just want to know the risks before I jump into it. The nurse said it’s like the feeding tube, a step you take once you’re well and truly fed up with the alternatives. IDK. I am too worn out to think about things like this right now.
