Another amazing thing.
At the hospital, a nurse said “you look like you lost weight”.
I was starting to go oh no oh no oh no off into the general oh-shit of triggered land. Because people almost always mean that as a compliment when they say that to a fat person.
Then she said, “That’s because of gastroparesis and malabsorption and that kind of thing, right? Too bad.”
And I was so incredibly relieved that she saw it as a medical problem and not wonderful. Because I’ve literally had people tell me they wish they had gastroparesis so they could lose weight. No. No. No. WTF. Just no.
Of course it’s another thing when you know all the ER nurses well enough for them to know on sight whether you’ve lost weight.
