Anybody who tries to makeyou feel like a lazy low-life for watching TV so that you don’t want to scream and break things from all of  the pain that you are in just needs to be straight-up defenestrated. (And who better to make this happen than you?)”]
Alternate possibilities: have an ally throw them out the window, or build an asshole-catapult to do this for you.(Life is busy and I’ve been feeling shitty; please accept this in lieu of an update.)

oh my stars
you have no idea how much i needed to hear this after this weekend
seriously
i am like, fighting back tears it means that much right now

I feel like any reply to this would be inadequate, but—
I’m so, so glad that it’s somehow helped. I’m so sorry for whatever circumstances brought this to be relevant, but it is true. TV, distractions, and things like this are not laziness, they are medicine. Taking care of yourself is so important, no matter what people or society will say to you or what aspersions they will cast upon you.

I really wish my flatmates understood this.

Video games, too. But TV is easier than video games.

Definitely! I spend a lot more time on gaming than watching TV. Spending some quality time with the cats and the PS3 right now actually. Also, I’m a lot more likely to worry about it looking/feeling “lazy”. Thankfully, I do live with a gamer who uses it a lot as a distraction too, and gets why that’s useful for me. And actually reminds me to try to take it easy a lot, instead of acting like I’m lazy. But yeah, probably better not to build that asshole-catapult to use on myself just yet. *wry smile* Good self-reminder here.

There was a time I was in horrible pain and playing video games constantly. My parents even got me a DS just to get through that period, when my trigeminal neuralgia was first diagnosed and totally out of control. You wouldn’t think pain in your face could put you in bed, but it can. (I’ve known people who used crutches or wheelchairs entirely because of TN, too. Pain anywhere can mess with your ability to get around, if it’s bad enough.) I don’t always like the detached way video games make me feel, but when I’m in pain, there’s nothing better. And it got to where people were questioning why I was so lazy as to do nothing but play video games all day, and I had to talk to everyone about this. Not that it’s any of their business what I do with my day. But still. For some reason a few years ago I hit a huge burnout and haven’t been good with video games ever since.
