jennliv: Diane Van Deren  Diane Van Deren suffered from constant seizures due to epilepsy. Before sensing a ‘premonition’ of a seizure, she would immediately go running outside to prevent the seizure from occurring. Eventually she went through a lobotomy procedure, removing a portion of her brain that dealt with her perception of time. This enabled Diane to receive an unusual yet interesting advantage when running in ultra-marathons. With a distorted judgment of time, she was able to run for days without feeling the same sense of exhaustion normal runners would experience if they were able to sense how long they had been running for.
