Two mama cats who gave birth at the same time, co-mothering their eight new babies.

However, I prefer to think of them as a lesbian cat couple.

We had a mother and daughter cat who did that, and we weren’t even sure who gave birth to which kittens. (We did make sure those surprise kittens were the last, ASAP.) The lesbian cat couple thing wouldn’t work so well in that particular case, but otherwise yes. :)

It’s very common for female cats to jointly rear their kittens. Among other things, it helps protect the kittens against some tomcats who might want to kill any kitten who isn’t theirs – the kittens smell like all the mothers, so they can’t tell which is which. But it also helps each other in all kinds of other ways. It’s more common among friends and relatives.
