Two mama cats who gave birth at the same time, co-mothering their eight new babies.
However, I prefer to think of them as a lesbian cat couple.

We had a mother and daughter cat who did that, and we weren’t even sure who gave birth to which kittens. (We did make sure those surprise kittens were the last, ASAP.) The lesbian cat couple thing wouldn’t work so well in that particular case, but otherwise yes. :)

It’s very common for female cats to jointly rear their kittens. Among other things, it helps protect the kittens against some tomcats who might want to kill any kitten who isn’t theirs — the kittens smell like all the mothers, so they can’t tell which is which. But it also helps each other in all kinds of other ways. It’s more common among friends and relatives.

We’ve also genuinely heard of female cats who seemed to be sexually interested in other female cats, for what it’s worth. A friend of ours (a close friend, not an “I heard it from a friend who heard it from a friend who…” type of thing), had a cat who went into heat, in a house with two male cats and a female. She ignored both the male cats, and followed the female cat around yowling after her, trying to get her to mount her, etc. She did get spayed after that, to prevent any possibility of kittens, but the “lesbian kitty” jokes stayed around for a while.
I know when our current foster cat went into heat— we were planning to spay her but it happened before we could get her in to the vet’s— she tried to get just about everything to mate with her right at the start, including our other female cat, our hand, and a shoe. But I think the funny part in our friend’s cat’s case was that she seemed so disinterested in the male cats and fixated on the female.

My dad grew up on a farm, and he said lots of the animals were gay or lesbian, from cattle to chickens. It was one of the reasons he was neither surprised when I came out to him (he’d worked it out before I had), nor particularly bothered. He said he’d already seen it all with animals. I asked him how he knew before I did and all he’d say was “I’ve been around the sun a few times.” Later I asked him about that, and he said he still can’t really tell me how he knew, he just knew.
