youneedacat: This is the Mother Tree in Redwood Terrace, California, a settlement in San Mateo County of very few people when I was born there. Talked about it in a previous post. Means everything to me. That thing hanging down the side is part of an iteration — another redwood growing on the huge branches of the main tree. A single old redwood tree can become a forest of its own that way. I’m thinking about this tree now as I wait for surgery. Reblogging.
