"You don't need this junk. You need a cat.": How much spilled bleach is dangerous in an unventilated bathroom?

I’ve shut the door just so it doesn’t come out into my bedroom, and it was only a little, but I want to make sure I’m not in danger before I next try to take a leak or send someone in to clean it up. And to keep the cat out of there. Especially since I have a lung…

Yeah I do not actually know how much spilled bleach is dangerous but I know too much of it in an enclosed area can cause lung damage (which you definitely don’t need more of!) if there is no ventilation. Chain of fans = best way to go, IMO.

Yeah the fans ultimately worked. Our apartment has no ventilation of its own. No way to make a cross breeze. The only excuse for ventilation we have in the bathrooms is this passive vent high up on the wall above the bathtub, that wouldn’t work at the best of times. It’s crusted up due to not having been cleaned in decades. Then we’ve got the fans over our stoves, that as far as we can tell don’t actually vent to anywhere. But I got the air conditioner running from one window, two other windows open, and fans blowing it in the direction of those windows, and it sort of worked.

Before I did that, I went in there to fix the spill (not to clean it up, but to set the bottle upright — it had to be done or it would’ve gotten worse). And I came out of there dizzy and light headed and my lungs hurt more than usual. So that wasn’t fun. Neither was keeping the cat out of there until we could fix it. Given that’s where her litter box is, and where she gets water from the sink. She gave us this look like “I wanted to pee, you dipshits!” But she has tiny lungs so I didn’t really want her exposed to it until we could clean it up.

It really wasn’t that much, but it’s amazing the fumes that stuff can create. They were not just in the bathroom but a few feet in all directions from the door, and I could smell them from bed. For hours I thought it was my burp cup, except my burp cup didn’t seem to smell, so I was confused but too sleepy to care.
