I’ve been wanting to tell people that my whole life. I mean, maybe I read books and chat online and play videogames, but how many people would choose to do ONLY those things for the rest of their lives? I’d really like to improve my art skills and write some books, but I rarely can will myself to do those things… like once in a blue moon maybe. I’d love to be able to cook big, fancy meals. I’d like to learn an instrument, and learn a martial art… avolition (and being poor) means I can’t do any of that.
How many people would actually like to look at something, like a pile of clothes that need to be cleaned up, and not be able to figure out what sequence of actions to take, no matter how hard they try? Or deal with a sink full of rotting dishes? Or a pest problem that keeps getting worse and worse because they can never keep the house clean enough to discourage them?
How can people think those are indulgences? :l
that that that. Not a luxury. Sure as hell not a luxury. It amazes me the way people think that being disabled means getting lots of wonderful privileges. I was just talking to my friend about this, and she said “Where are all these privileges that supposedly come with being autistic, I want them!” Not that she or I thinks there’s no good side to it, but it’s not a ticket to the easy life by any means, and not being able to do shit isn’t a fun thing or a way of getting out of responsibilities.
