my dearest satellite: why don't asperger's initiate communication

autisticdrift:

So many reasons. Mine have included:

1. Spoonless

2. Executive function fail: the initiative edition

3. Executive function fail: the “wait, how many days/weeks/months have passed since I talked to you?” edition

4. Realization that “I always email/call/text first, maybe…

Also… Not AS but I don’t think that makes a difference in this:

Lots of autistic people have trouble initiating any actions at all. That can range from minor to diagnosable severe catatonia. (I have probably mild to moderate autistic catatonia myself. Mild to moderate compared to the severe kind. There is nothing mild about the traits themselves. But I can move on my own I just have trouble with some aspects of movement, and that us more than what someone with the severe kind can say.)

Anyway that can lead to difficulty initiating socially just Luke difficulty initiating anything else.

Also I went through a part of my life where I thought that simply being in the room with people and thinking about what they said was the same as active participation, and was so shocked to hear people say I wasn’t initiating or wasn’t participating or even behaved as if I didn’t notice people at all.
