Don Nicholson, 91, left, kisses his partner of 49 years, Phil Johnson, 72, at the end of their marriage ceremony performed by Chief Assistant Sonoma County Clerk Deva Proto, far left, in the courtyard outside of the clerk’s office in Santa Rosa, CA, on Monday, July 1, 2013. I’m sad to think they had to wait so long.
Someone I’m acquainted with from high school has been together his partner for 28 years.  They’re getting married at long last later this summer.  He posted this last week:  Will You Marry Me?

I know what you mean. It reminds me of DD partners, both gay and straight, who are still prohibited from marrying because of guardians or institutions.
