Fun fact: just because someone has a wheelchair, doesn’t mean they can’t walk. A lot of people benefit from a wheelchair because they can’t balance well or it is too painful to walk. So if you see a person briefly stand out of their wheelchair, or take a few steps, or even if you see them with a wheelchair sometimes but not always, it doesn’t mean they’re faking, and you shouldn’t call them out on it.

Same for the detective show staple about scuffed shoes (eyeroll).

I’ve been all over the map at different stages. Walk sometime not others. No walking at all. Walking only in the house. Waking only a few steps. Walking only in familiar environments.

Also we don’t always have just one condition that affects walking. I have at least two or three - autistic catatonia, whatever neuromuscular clusterfuck (congenital myasthenia?), autonomic dysfunction,y etc.

Also I live in a senior and disabled building. Lots of wheelchair users here.

ALL BUT TWO OR THREE CAN STAND AND WALK AT LEAST A LITTLE.

Those of us who can stand and walk sometimes are in the majority of wheelchair users. Not the minority.
