DTP AWARENESS (by Shea Heribacka)
My friend Shea recently died as a result of Digestive Tract Paralysis, shortly before her 20th birthday. She had really severe DTP that affected her stomach, intestines and colon.
I have DTP as well but my involvement is mostly my esophagus and stomach. My colon used to be pretty bad but has gotten a lot better with treatment.
It often takes a long time to diagnose this disorder. I had the correct test back in 2007 but it was done incorrectly, delaying my diagnosis six years.
If you’re having symptoms like this…please try and see a motility specialist if a regular gastroenterologist or internist isn’t helping you.
