I’ve hated the question “What do you do?” ever since I got on SSI at 19.

I still hate that job becomes identity to so many people.

Because if I say I do nothing…well that’s true of nobody. But the way people make it sound, only things you get paid for are meaningful contributions to society. And existing isn’t enough contribution.
