What’s even worse for me is when other oppressed people try and claim things like “well I’m oppressed in terms of (race or class or sex or etc.) But ableism is just going too far.”
Especially since I experience a whole lot of kinds of oppression and for me (I know it’s different for everyone) ableism is the most intense and the most deadly. And yet is completely invisible to anyone not experiencing it, and lots of people who are. And everyone seems to find the entire idea of ableism something to roll your eyes about rather than something to fight because even at its most deadly everyone defends it.
