Trying to find the right words: And in the Enderverse more generally

…There’s a REALLY strong better dead than disabled message, and pro-eugenics themes. Especially in the Bean series.

I mean, Bean literally takes his kids into space and cuts them off from contact with other people to stop them from reproducing and creating more…

Agreed completely on disability.

Also he’s been known to haul off and start SHOUTING LIKE HELL at anyone he meets IRL who happens to even slightly mention disability pride, or even being the tiniest bit okay with disability. Including both disabled people, and parents of disabled kids. And people excuse it because he’s a big name famous author and because he has a disabled child. The same way that people excuse sexual assault at conventions, from famous sci fi authors. I believe he has even gone on his loud, verbally abusive tirades in the middle of panel presentations at sci fi cons.

Seriously I am so glad I am not his son. I couldn’t stand being so publicly hated by my parents fly disability. It’s bad enough being privately hated by my grandmother because I was in the mental health system. :-(

He’s also a major homophobe and actually doesn’t mind having a law against it. (… Even though he doesn’t actually want it enforced? What’s the point?)

Yeah this whole thread is about how his expressed views on disability are even worse than his expressed homophobia, as far as we can tell.
