My boys sharing grass while in a pen in the living room when I was cleaning their cages yesterday. They’re in a 4x5 C&C pen that’s been folded down to a 4x4, and yes that’s my 30-some-years-old sleeping bag protecting the carpet.
Clockwise, starting with the white piggy:
Batman. I adopted him and his brother from the SPCA on July 31, 2011. Robin died the next day, likely of a heart condition. (I am now paranoid that Batman’s going to get one.) He’s turning three at the beginning of November. He’s a teddy and looks like a polar bear sometimes. He’s actually a Tortoiseshell and White (TSW), just mostly white with black on his eyes and a bit on his right side, and then the red is on his crest and on the left side of his head. He’s amazingly tame and easy to catch because of it. He is second-heaviest and has the biggest bum. I loves him the mostest. He gives me kisses when we’re snuggling and he loves snap peas and carrots. He chirps sometimes - it sounds just like a bird.
Squeak. I brought Squeak and his brother Bubble home in early January 2012; they were living with a family that didn’t have time for them anymore. Their nails were horribly long - I gave them pedicures right away and then let them get used to the new house. Squeak is a booger-head and a bully. He’s skittish and a bit slow on the uptake. He lives with Batman now in a 3x3 C&C cage, which is a great match as it turns out because their temperaments are very similar so Batman won’t let Squeak get away with the crap he likes to pull. Squeak is a Tortoiseshell (TS) Peruvian with just a bit of red on his shoulders. He is third heaviest but used to be the heaviest; that changed last year when the brothers both had a bout with a fungal infection on their mouths. He just turned three. His favourite veggie is bell pepper - doesn’t matter what colour,
Bandit. Bandit was a rescue pig and came to live with me as part of the guinea pig rescue I run with a friend. He was about four months old and it was April 2012, so he’s about a year and a half now. He’s a TSW except he has tan instead of red. He’s an American Short Hair and is incredibly compact. He has a large dewlap (kind of like a furry double chin) that wiggles when he runs - he is amazingly cute! He’s the heaviest of the four but the smallest in size, so obviously he’s got a lot of muscle on him! He still acts like a baby pig with the older boys. It’s really cute to see him smelling their mouths while they’re eating. They all put up with things from him that they won’t tolerate from each other. He lives alone, but I’m hoping to be able to pair him with Bubble when I have another hugemongous cage. His favourite veggie is carrots.
Bubble. Squeak’s brother is the smartest guinea pig I have ever had. He’s a TS like Squeak; I can tell them apart because Bubble has more red on his shoulders, his ears have both been torn in half (both halves still attached), and his left front paw got broken last year in a fight with his brother so it looks kind of weird. He’s a very sweet guinea pig but if he doesn’t like what you’re doing he will bite you hard enough to draw blood. That includes trimming his nails, giving him medication, or cutting his hair. Just anything. But if you’re just sitting with him he likes to snuggle just fine! :) He loves lettuce the best. He’s the lightest and my second favourite.
So those are my boys.
