soilrockslove: clatterbane: Mother Timber With Newborn Timber Rattlesnakes (Crotalus horridus). Cumberland Co., PA. September 13, 2008.This female was very protective of her brood; she absolutely refused to abandon them as I photographed them for about an hour, leaving and returning several times. Mom rattlesnakes usually look after their babies for about a week (at least the ones who live here).
