You know you’re chronically ill when the nicest thing someone can say to you is “I looked up your condition on the Internet…"
Im always amazed and touched when someone cares enough to do that :)

I’m always amazed by this one friend who looks up information to actually help my medical treatment.

And I don’t mean she comes up with stupid fad stuff that works by placebo if at all. I mean she figured out I had gastroparesis a week before the hospital doctors did, when I was hospitalized for five weeks because of being unable to eat and aspiration pneumonia, both related to it.

She and I picked out my feeding tube months before doctors finally realized I needed it.

Of course she’s my power of attorney for healthcare. So she better understand this stuff. But she really good above and beyond.

OTOH I’m not so thrilled when people look things up only to tell me to embrace quackery, or jump at the first, or worst, diagnosis they see that only vaguely fits the symptoms.
