Police say John Henry Spooner shot Simmons last May after accusing the boy of stealing $3,000 worth of guns from his home.

The teen, who had lived with his mother next door to Spooner for only a month, was taking out the trash around 10 a.m. when Spooner accused the boy of the theft and demanded he return the shotguns.

The teenager was unarmed when he was shot in the street outside their homes.

1) After the shooting, Darius’ mother was questioned in a squad car for 2 hours while her dead son lay on the sidewalk.

2) Then searched her home.

3) Then the police arrested her older son for a year-old truancy ticket.

4) All while Spooner’s family was coming and going out of the house, removing things from his home despite the fact that it was a crime scene.

The shooting would have been justified if the kid stole from Spooner several days earlier.

If only Darius had helped his elderly neighbor he might still be alive.

The real problem is black on black violence.

Statistics generated by white supremacist groups say black people are more likely to commit crimes so Spooner probably had a good reason to suspect his 13-year-old neighbor and if you say otherwise you’re pulling the race card (even though OP just admitted that race alone was enough reason to shoot someone dead on the street as far as they were concerned)

Darius Simmons shouldn’t even be considered a victim since he obviously was a thief. (He wasn’t.)

Why isn’t anyone thinking of poor John Spooner having to live among all of those black hoodlums who took over his neighborhood?

A white man being violent toward a black child? White men don’t do things like that! He must be suffering from mental illness!

We don’t know what happened. Until I see the police report, I won’t believe that a 13-year-old black boy didn’t deserve to be shot in front of his mother on the street.

Simmons’ mother is suing Spooner for shooting her son in front of her in part for inflicting emotional distress? Black women don’t have feelings. They only have children for money.

Racism doesn’t exist, unless we’re talking about black people hating white people.
