Spoonie friends want to take a read? (TMI warning o.o)
Okay guys, other than the person I’m now reblogging this from, don’t read it.
You don’t want to.
Food is tricky.
You’ll want to drink a lot of fluid no matter what else you do. It helps, and it also makes sure the Miralax didn’t dehydrate you.
The tricky thing is fiber.
Some ignorant people will say fiber is always good for constipation and the more the better. Even some medical professionals think this. Not true.
For some people fiber helps loosen stools.
For other people, fiber actually adds bulk, and will create giganto-turds that can block you up.
People with gastroparesis and motility problems tend to be in the second category but you never know.
Other than low fiber, the only thing that ever obviously helped me at all, diet wise, was being on a diet with a lot of water and liquid in the food, including fully liquid diets. Nothing else came even close.
And the Miralax every day routine actually was prevention as much as anything for me. Doses will vary by person. That’s literally the only thing that worked before I went on a liquid diet and then a feeding tube. Everything else besides avoiding fiber and going for high water content foods, didn’t help me much.
