“Many adult hospitals are not used to treating diseases that, until quite recently, most people didn’t survive with into adulthood. It’s one of the most significant trends I see emerging in medicine: better technology means chronically ill kids grow up and enter an adult system unprepared for them.”
—- Laurie Edwards, Life Disrupted: Getting Real About Chronic Illness in Your Twenties and Thirties (via thelampsaidfouroclock)
Loved that book. Despite having very little other than chronic illness in common with the author. It was really honest about some things I rarely see discussed.
