cfconfessions:

I’m often confused as to why I’m so healthy. I didn’t do anything extraordinarily special to prevent decline. Starting around age 5 I played soccer until early highschool, and maybe that was it, but still. Could it be that simple? I wish I knew exactly what was up with my cells and where how extensive the defect is.“

Most likely you did a little and your genes and possibly medical treatment did a lot? Because usually health isn’t that much in a person’s control…it’s just understandably comforting to think it is. Although how hard you fight for medical treatment can also play a big role.

I do everything I can myself, and my health is pretty bad for a person without CF. And I know people who don’t do anything and are totally healthy. Like some things we do have some effect on our health, but some kettle stay healthy doing everything wrong, and others die by age five doing everything right.
