Not precisely a boundary violation, but boundary related — it’s always helped me when therapists are willing to outline exactly what their legal responsibilities are. For example: when they are…

I have two former bullies who have gone into different fields related to psychology. Both of them (despite, when it was convenient to them, totally supporting my autism dx) have tried to publicly undiagnose me with autism. Despite the fact that neither has ever known me on a clinical basis, and they only really knew me for a year in person, when we were all underage and they were not practicing nor qualified to practice. (Both now claim far more direct contact with me than they had.) They both parade around their graduate degrees in psychology as a weapon in their desire to slander and libel me.

I am CERTAIN this is a severe breach of professional ethics. The one who is a therapist, is still practicing. The one who is, I think, a researcher, is also still practicing at whatever he does.

Interestingly, my psych records actually mention them. As people who are “overly interested in my pathology”, flat out encouraging me to believe I have conditions I didn’t have, and as people who should be kept away from me at all costs. They never mention that. They never mention much of what’s really in my records, because it makes their stories disintegrate fast. Also because they never actually saw my records. (One of my favorite of their stories: “she couldn’t have been diagnosed because she never told us!” Yeah, because kids just hand out medical records to other kids? Okaaaaaay….)

But it terrifies me that they have any place in research or clinical practice. When they’ve devoted both their child and adult lives to screwing over vulnerable people for fun. But then a sizable number of people go into those fields for power and control, not to help anyone.
