I talked to someone once about that. She said that’s what severe pain is like. And nobody tells you this. Nobody ever explains.
You basically go in and out of dissociation and endorphins and stuff. So your ability to feel the pain keeps cycling in and out.
But your body is physically reacting to the pain the entire time.
So I’ve asked people, “why does everything seem unreal but I’m moaning and holding my head and I can’t move?” Because that floaty distanced feeling is part of severe pain, and even when you feel floaty and distanced another part of you is still feeling and reacting to the pain.
It’s weird.
