When people start going off about how we are living in the past and need to get over the bad things done back then, I ask a simple question. When, exactly, did things get better?

Most people can’t answer you at all. They literally cannot point to a date when magic…

And with institution-based abuse, things always changed ten years ago. Always. No matter when now is. No matter when ten years ago is. If you experienced it longer than ten years ago, your experiences were in the Bad Old Days when institutions were horrible but everything’s fine now. Sometimes with the added bullshit, “institutions don’t exist anymore” or “that’s not a real institution because it’s not a giant sprawling Victorian building with bars on the windows run with public funds”.
