felis corvus: So, I watched the Hunger Games movie. And it was not terrible.

feliscorvus:

Since it was on Netflix I watched the movie version of “The Hunger Games" last night. Mainly to see what all the fuss was about (and because Jennifer Lawrence did such an amazing job in “Winter’s Bone").

I picked up the book a while back and for…

Yeah I read all the books but it was like pulling teeth. The plot was interesting in theory but not in practice? I felt horribly bored the whole time.

I did sort of like the movie. Katniss looked absolutely nothing like I pictured from the book, and I heard the casting call was awful and actually insisted she had to be white, and that’s probably part of it. In the book I pictured her as mixed race.

But I found the movie more tolerable than the book in terms of holding my interest.

I have no idea why I couldn’t get into the books. I just couldn’t. I read all three hoping it would be better. And I came out more interested in the things that happened, as remembered from the IDEAS of the book, than I was in the actual book. I don’t know what masochist impulse got me through all three
