Would any of you have any insight into what other conditions could even hypothetically appear like an autism spectrum disorder? Because I’ve just recently had this big sensemaking moment with autism and the Story of My Life (for reference, see my first posts…
Tourette.
Hydrocephalus.
Dyslexia and other learning difficulties. Hyperlexia.
Neurofibromatosis.
Cerebral palsy.
Semantic pragmatic disorder.
Rett syndrome.
Bipolar.
Tuberous sclerosis.
Fetal alcohol syndrome/fetal alcohol spectrum disorder.
Specific language impairment.
Some conditions I’m reluctant to mention because I don’t think psychiatry is capturing something accurate:
Schizoid personality disorder.
Obsessive compulsive personality disorder.
Schizophrenia.
Schizotypal personality disorder.

You may think it’s impossible to have some of those things without being diagnosed, but many of them have little known mild forms that get missed.
