Does anyone else out there…

…break down and start shaking

When you see people talking about disabled people as if we are dead

As if we will never be as good as the nondisabled person they imagined for our future

And they act like whoever we are will never be the same person they had or the same person they imagined they had

And who we are is less, no matter what we do or say

AS IF THEY HAD LOST US

While the disabled person is standing right there

And you look at their eyes

And you know they feel how you feel when people act that way about you

It cuts to the quick

I can’t handle it

I don’t know what to do
