I wish people would accept that disabled people are a part of reality. That for some people there is no getting better. There is no amount of discipline that can make us like people who are not disabled. I wish people would just sit down,…

People never want to believe me about the archaeological evidence. How much more clear can it be than bones of people who couldn’t possibly walk or chew, ever, who survived to old age? Do they think it happened by magic or what? No it happened because people card enough to keep people alive.

People don’t like to hear this because they want to pretend that it’s human nature to want us dead so they do all that ~evolutionary psychology~ bullshit to pretend all cultures ever would have left us to die. It helps them pretend that it’s okay, with all our current resources, to continue to let us die because they can. But not everyone in every culture ever has considered us useless eaters. Not even cultures people imagine not to have had the resources to spare us.

I really hate the whole idea that we are an unfortunate side effect of modern medical technology gone too far. Yes more of us are alive because of modern technology. That’s GOOD. Lots of nondisabled people only exist because of modern medical technology too. You never hear anyone pissing and moaning about the fact THEY exist.
