A package I was glad to pick up at the post office a little while ago!
I’m not so sure about the peace, but I certainly plan to make sure I’m full of grits later. ;)
Though I tend to prefer white corn in general, I’m sure these will taste fine. The Amazon shop where I found this was only carrying the yellow, though the mill (in North Carolina) also makes white. I was just glad to find any other than Quaker. And hopefully, like the smallish local mill we were buying stuff from back home, they process enough corn to have totally separate facilities for handling it.
I was a bit suspicious because hominy was never mentioned, on the mill’s website either—but, they’re from NC, so hopefully that’s just implied. I was disappointed by some Jamaican-made “grits” that were just coarse cornmeal. Not bad for mush, but not what I was hoping to get. (Shame, since a lot of Caribbean foods are pretty cheap and easy to get in London. And I end up finding some familiar foods that way.) But, we’ll just have to see with this bag.
These were also even cheaper than the Quaker crap tends to run here from the couple of import shops that even sell non-instant grits. This was still like £4 before shipping, but totally worth it if it’s even passable tasting. I haven’t eaten any in several years now, mostly out of cheapness, which is ridiculous if you can actually afford some comfort food.
YAY GRITS!
