Pro-autism resource books

telephonoscope:

I went to the college library yesterday and looked at their tiny little section on autism. Everything was curebie. I notified them that that was not a good thing and now they want me to recommend books to them!

my list starts with

Loud Hands

The new ASAN book about navigating college

Aspergirls (It is helpful if you ignore the problematic things in it.)

Any other recommendations?

What was the name of that Autism and sexuality book?

Oh also there’s an autism positive book by a parent. Who later figured out she’s on the spectrum herself. It’s called Elijah’s Cup. By Valerie Paradiž. It’s a good portrait of the autistic community at a time before most current community members were aware of it.

I might add more later. Right now I’m working on compiling a list of good books by autistic people but they’re not all anti-cure.

I think Not Even Wrong might be anti cure too but I don’t remember.
