➸ "You don't need this junk. You need a cat.": Playgrounds are hell on earth.
I’ve been having some conversations that have been bringing up all kinds of memories I try not to think about most of the time.
One of those memories. Big giant public school playgrounds.
There are so many things I wish about that time.
I wish I’d more consistently known I could remove…
School playgrounds were one of the worst aspects of my “education” also - the playground at St Mary’s Junior school in Croydon was segregated and the boys’ bit was dominated by kids kicking footballs around, and there was no refuge from it. There should be other places to go, but there is a dogma that children need their run around (not true) and of course, the teachers need their natter in the staff room.
What I don’t get is why I ever decided to join in the games. That rarely ended well.
