petermorwood: What gets me about all this ornamental work is that it’s on a part of the door so seldom seen unless the door was left open all the time, which seems a bit improbable. And yet there it is, ready to be admired for what, two seconds? during every open-and-close cycle. The first thought is Why? The second thought is Why Not?
