I didn’t read this whole conversation but lia is hella smart so I’m guessing they’re right.

but look at this person:

alright sorry youre not stupid and i shouldnt have even said that anyway because ableism and stuff but like

[reasons they disagree with lia]

so like, go away???????

this is what I don’t really get, like this practically lawyerly definition of how it’s okay to treat people.

“okay, you got me,” whydontihatemarrymyself says to lia. “it wasn’t correct for me to call you ‘dense’ because that relates to an ism. the way I insulted you was incorrect, now let me tell you to go away” [from where? lia’s own tumblr?] “because it’s correct for me to be totally rude to a stranger for no reason as long as I don’t call them ‘dense’ or something else that is wrong for social justice reasons and not just because it doesn’t make sense and is mean.”

part 2:

I’m saying this for myself not them. so based on the person’s response to me it’s like…things that are social justice related or fit into a certain rubric are the only things that can be hurtful or something. like, if someone is like “I hate you you should kill yourself” but they don’t call you DENSE or refer to the fact that you’re in a marginalized group, then what they’re doing is only their tone. everything is tone except for things that relate to -isms.

I don’t agree.
