kentuckycardinal: Banana Slug - big fat and juicy. These guys are thicker around than a giant man’s thumb and about 7 inches long. This was taken in the Tongass National Forest which is the largest remaining temperate rainforest in the world. Its an amazing place. We usually think of rainforest as sauna-like equatorial jungle. Here it never freezes but it is rare for the temperatures to get above 75F in the warmest days of summer just as it is rare to get below the freezing point in winter.
