“The fire alarm has been activated. Please remain in your apartment with the door closed until the fire department gives specific instructions to leave.” So somewhere above me the sprinkler is going off. I HOPE that’s the source of the upstairs pattering sound I hear. I see water going down the window.  Usually fires here are well contained, is the sprinklers that do more damage. But I don’t like being in a room full of oxygen tanks while this is going on. Nor unable to climb stairs. No warm walls or doors though. And glad that I’ve covered the horrible strobe lights, although the sound of the alarm is bad enough.
