In the weird dreams department…

A dream that had two intertwining themes.

One in which I was writing a paper about autism and ability to love, in which I was running around town watching people do things like hang a feather off the end of a power line, any interpreting that as the ability to love. (Also, getting screamed at by a good friend for wearing perfume, when I wasn’t wearing any.)

One in which I was encountering a variety of humanoid aliens, and realizing that species 1 was convincing species 2 that species 2 were stupid, so that when other species encountered them we would think that species 2 was too stupid to communicate and species 1 was advanced and wonderful. Also getting shot at a lot.

Many of my dreams are actually bag science fiction movies. This started after changing my anticonvulsant years ago. Dreams that:

1. Have complicated actual plots

2. That go on most of the night.

3. That are very hard to wake from.

4. If I do wake, I can get back into the dream again usually just by going to sleep.

5. Have so much depth and realism that they are really hard to Telford from reality.

6. But the plots are usually bad science fiction movie plots. They are rarely any good. I can count the number I’ve wanted to actually write into stories on one hand. Often they are super interesting to me while I’m in them then I wake up and go “aw, come on”.

Also in my dreams I am usually not just one character. I switch back and forth between being several of the characters. Sometimes all at once. And then sometimes also I am watching it like a movie or playing it like a video game.

Which reminds me, many of my dreams are essentially live action video games. Way more than there should be. And sometimes I wake up and want to go back to sleep because I was just on the verge of getting amazing loot, or want to keep the loot I got already, or am just on the verge of a high score, or something like that. Or I’m disappointed when I get up because I can’t keep objects or situations from the dream no matter how hard I try. Also sometimes I want to go back into the dream because I had something important I had to do for someone in the dream and still feel super obligated.
