Bridge near mineral springs (which are cool-looking but stinky) at Alum Rock Park, San Jose, CA.

Eeeeeeeeeee I remember those Springs. They had sulfur, right?

Yep, sulfur and several other minerals. And supposedly some springs that were naturally carbonated. I had never been there before today, but I liked the little grotto things that were built to help identify springs of different types. They looked like entrances into inter-dimensional hobbitish-holes. :D

I spent a huge amount of my childhood in that park.

That…is not surprising. :) I kind of figured. It’s a very cool park. I think I like it better than Rancho San Antonio, because there’s more shade (Rancho has shade on the trails, but there’s this huge section right at the beginning where you have to walk past sports fields that has *no* shade).

OH and there was this one part that reminded me a lot of…whatever that realm in WoW where the blood elves live, because of this round gazebo-type thing with a drinking fountain in it. And we saw lots of Steller’s Jays and a male deer with impressive antlers.

Yeah that place is one of the better natural parks in Santa Clara Valley. Oh there’s also a good place to go hiking for longer trips but I’m not sure it exists anymore. It’s outside the far limits of San Jose, you have to go down a highway a ways. Is called Henry Coe. I was conceived there. But I love Alum Rock. When I was a kid there were always field trips and girl scout nature walks. And I think there’s a place you can pay to go on trail rides with horses. It’s really big and there’s so much stuff to explore and so many critters and plants.
