Meanwhile
Meanwhile my real lungs are not so happy and it’s hard to breathe. And it’s also hard to hold my phone and type things. I’m doing the bipap as assisting breathing thing but it’s still exhausting to breathe and that’s never a good sign.
That sounds pretty concerning. Are you to the point of an ER trip?
No. I have bronchiectasis so any time I get sick it can feel like this. I’ll go to the ER if I need something that a bipap and an oxygen machine and Mestinon and inhalers can’t provide me. I’ve talked to my pulmonologist and she doesn’t mind me using the bipap this way and staying out of the ER when possible. I’ll go if it gets a lot worse though. Or if my oxygen sats drop below what my machines can handle. But mostly I don’t know what they’d do that I can’t do here, unless I needed an x ray or something really heavy duty.
Sorry to worry people. Things like this are weird when you have a chronic illness - if a healthy person felt like this I would insist they go to the ER, but I’ve learned to trust my and my friends’ judgement. (If any of them say to go, I’ll go. Because my judgement is not perfect either. I just feel like this is at the point where it feels really bad to me but they would not find much of anything and I would waste everyone’s time.)
