madeofpatterns:

Some of that same group of people also got pissed off when I wrote a post about how to notice and understand communication when someone keeps repeating something.

The person who objected was reading that as me saying that autistic people shouldn’t have to bother communicating clearly and should be able to expect others to do all the work, or something.

I’m really sick of autistic people who only want their own cognitive configuration to be seen as legitimate and worth accommodating.

That sounds very much like the person who replied to me.

With that snide “If you communicate that way, do you actually expect other people to understand what you’re saying?” bullshit.

I still get irritated just thinking about it.

Mind you – all I said was that I use words that have more than one meaning.

Which is no different than anyone does.

Because MOST OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE is made up of words that have more than one meaning.

But apparently because I’m autistic, then if I say that I must be talking about communicating in a completely incomprehensible way.

And yet – and yet what I was responding to was him giving me shit for (in his eyes) NOT seeing that words have more than one meaning.

So which is it?

GAH.
