I FUCKING SWEAR

To me if you are autistic and you have the attention span to complete tasks, pay attention or focus on anything. Also if you are capable to have OPINIONS you are high functioning dude shut the fuck up

Even if you’re nonspeaking?…

By those standards then the absolute vast majority of people this person considers low functioning, are actually high functioning.  Because it’s only a tiny tiny minority who can’t pay attention to anything or have opinions about things.  Like the tiniest of tiny minorities, and usually only for a tiny portion of their lives.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ You can have opinions without having words. Having a preference for a certain kind of food is a goddamn opinion!

Yeah exactly.  When I mean don’t have opinions, I mean there’s autistic people who for some portion of their lives don’t even manage to have preferences (by their own later self-description).  But that’s extremely rare even among people who can’t communicate their preferences easily, it requires a very very severe impairment in a very very specific cognitive skill, and even most people presumed to have that kind of impairment don’t have it.  And it’s usually either early in life, or for temporary amounts of time.  (I have that temporarily sometimes, but there’s people who didn’t have it for their first 4-12 years or so.  Rarely beyond that.)
