I have to be really careful to remind myself that my body is not betraying me.  It’s not the enemy.  My body is doing its best to survive.  What’s happening is that it’s malfunctioning so it can’t do what it is trying to do, but my body isn’t betraying me, it’s the thing that’s keeping me alive as best it can, despite all the malfunctions.  And that’s really important to remember on nights when I’m alone and in pain and nauseated and nothing seems to be working right at all.  My body didn’t choose to be this way.
