chronically–courageous:

The bottom comment was posted on the ‘Pill Bottle and Vegetable’ post I had posted earlier. I just wanted to clear something up.
YOU CANNOT PREVENT CHRONIC ILLNESS BY EATING HEALTHY.
I ate healthy my entire life. I mean REALLY healthy. We got candy on Halloween and I “snuck” soda pop when I had sleep overs at friends houses. During my teen years and high school I was on a strick diet. I drank green smoothies for breakfast with a wheat bagel.I ate upward of 2500 calories as per the team nutriontist because I was in a competitive volleyball league as well as the high school volleyball team. I ran track and weight training classes. I didn’t drink, smoke or touch drugs. I was 5’6 and pure muscle. You seriously couldn’t find a high school student who was healthier than me.
I received an NJ tube October 3, 2011 I weighed in at 72 lbs at 5’6 due to all my chronic illnesses (mainly dysautonomia & gastroparesis). Nov 11, 2011 I spent a week and a half in the hospital after receiving a jejunostomy (surgically placed j-tube).
To suggest that we CAN PREVENT CHRONIC ILLNESS BY EATING HEALTHY is a dishonor to those suffering from these terrible diseases. I’m not trying to lessen the importance of healthy eating,  I was raised knowing how important it is, however; Eating healthy would NOT prevent my: Gastroparesis/Digestive Tract Paralysis ITP (Low platelet disorder) Reoccurring Spontaneous Pneumothorax Endometriosis Brain tumor Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia (POTS) Dysautonomia Raynauds Phenomenon Arthritis Gastritis Ibs Anemia And the list goes on!
Before you make a comment like the one above; that can be SERIOUSLY hurtful (in suggesting that this hell could’ve been prevented; therefore is our own fault), please make sure you are properly educated on the subject.
