I am. I am. I am.: deducecanoe: phoebephoenix: yesthattoo: deducecanoe: Other people who…
Other people who were tested for autism… how many hours did your testing/evaluation take?? First time around it took like three hours. I’m looking at twelve hours of testing at this one place.
4th grade eval was 2 days.
College eval was with a counselor I’d been seeing for months, but the actual eval was like, an hour
About two hours for the entire thing.
so twelve hours is feeling a little excessive to me and it does indeed seem to be?
Two hours in one day, two hours in another.
I have three appointments coming up- one is six hours long, the other is four, and then a final appointment that is two…so twelve hours broken into three appointments.
So what is up with the wide variations on diagnostic time?? That hardly seems… quantitative.
Yeah, it seems really variable. I was dxed on the NHS though, and because they lose money rather than make it if the stuff takes hours and hours they tend to make stuff short. I didn’t have any sort of tests or anything though, just a diagnostic interview. I think getting tested privately will probably be much longer, possibly for no good reason.
This whole thing seems stupid. I mean what the fuck am I supposed to do over the course of twelve hours? TWELVE FUCKING HOURS?
Are they also testing you for ADHD? That testing can take a lot of time.
Hours?
For just the initial diagnosis I was observed and tested and evaluated in a number of ways (including interviewing family members) for a period of weeks, and for ongoing diagnoses the psychiatrist (and other members of the team) knew me for years.
But I was a kid and I wasn’t going in to be evaluated for autism. I was just suicidal and they ended up quickly spotting that I was probably autistic and then testing it over and over again for a long time.
